Cosmetics are not made to last forever. As much as i am cheap and hate wasting products, i need to pick my heart up and just do the deed. I understand very well how skin irritation can be a pain in anyone’s wallet hahaha of course self esteem too. Suffering pink eye from bacteria infested mascara isn’t exactly the nicest thing for anyone. Cosmetics is very prone to bacteria Even for the most careful of people, with makeup it is just unavoidable. Don’t go around sharing mascara with your friends…even that fruity lipgloss you love. If you really need to though, make sure to sanatized everything. You can purchase one time applicators for that job and they work beautifully. Mascara wand, lipglosses applicator etc. They are really cheap at beauty supply store.
So the Life Span for certain makeup can go up to two years…but never over two years.
Foundation - We use this often and should be replaced in a year time. When using liquid foundation, make sure to sanatize the pump or the opening everytime you dispense your product.
Concealer - just like foundation, it should be replaced in a year time. So you know sometime i complain about getting too little for my money’s worth. But when it come to concealer, you really don’t need that much. Standard size is about 4ml. That’s def. enough for a year worth of concealing and still plenty left if you are thrifty.
Mineral makeup - This should be kept for a year before replacing. I’m not a mineral makeup girl so i can’t comment too much about how long it should be kept. But like liquid foundation it should be kept for as long as a year and no more.
Compact powder - Compact powder should be replaced every two years. I am not a compact powder girl.
Mascara - THIS IS my FAVORITE item in my makeup bag. Because i love it so much, it always pains me to throw it away. However, it is recommended that mascara be replaced every 3 months. I read somewhere that you can give back your mascara life by heating the tube up with warm water?? is this true?? i don’t think anyone should try that. The chemical will be altered and it could in term hurt your eyes. So don’t heat mascara!!! lol
Lipstick/Lipgloss - Your lip products should be thrown and replace every 6 months. with Lipstick a few months longer. I don’t like wearing lipstick nor lipgloss but def for those that adore wearing some colors on their lips, don’t be cheap!!
Liquid Eyeliner - should be replaced every month!!! this stuff is so used so closely to your eyes, you really don’t want to keep it for too long. Eye infection isn’t exactly the best thing in the world. You can look silly with a red eye or worst go blind!
Pencil liner - If liquid makes you feel like its a waste to replaced every month…use pencil. Pencil doesn’t give you that dramatic look though. However, you can keep any pencil eyeliner for as long as 3 months. AND if you want to extend it to a few months more, be sure to sharpen your pencil often so you can keep it longer.
Eyeshadows - kk, eyeshadow will last up to 2 years before you should throw it out. Those that buy so many expensive one constantly and never finish it…its such a waste of money because in two years time, its a bye bye.
Nail Polish - Of any kinds can be kept up to a year.
Chapstick/Lipbalm - another favorite of mine to keep around. But they should be disposed and replace no more than 2 years. and don’t leave it in the heat for too long.
Perfume/cologne - A POPULAR one that people usually over look. ANY fagrances should be replaced in 2 years. You can keep it somewhere really cool if you want to prolonge its life. Put it in the fridge.
So please!!! really replace your makeup accordingly to minimize bacteria contamination of any kind!
